Coral Mitchell β€” Emotional Support Practitioner

About Little Roots

Meet Coral

I'm Coral Mitchell β€” an emotional support practitioner for young children navigating big feelings, behavioural challenges and the everyday wobbles of growing up.

Little Roots was born from a simple belief: every child deserves a calm, kind person in their corner β€” without forms, gatekeepers or year-long waiting lists.

Coral's Story

A passion for helping children thrive

Coral's journey into children's emotional wellbeing began in the classroom. As a qualified Level 3 Teaching Assistant in mainstream education, she quickly discovered that some of the biggest barriers to learning weren't academic β€” they were emotional.

Children who couldn't name their feelings, who were overwhelmed by anxiety, or who struggled to connect with peers needed more than academic support. That realisation sparked a deep commitment to understanding emotional and mental health needs in young children.

Some of the biggest barriers to learning aren't academic β€” they're emotional.
β€” Coral

Coral trained as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) β€” a programme developed and delivered by Educational Psychologists. Although ELSA was designed for use in schools, Coral saw that the same tools could make a real difference to families outside the classroom too.

And so Little Roots was born.
